Welcome to Slow Travel Bavaria, I’m Henar (pronounced like “NR”). Born in Spain I’ve been travelling pretty much all my life (with my family) and solo since the tender age of 15! In 2009 I packed my bags and moved to Scotland, fast forward 11 years and a few other countries, I landed in beautiful Munich, where I currently live.
During all my years on the road I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of taking things as they come, to make more conscious decisions and simply travel more sustainably.
One of the things I’ve realised since moving to Bavaria is how many people come by just for a day or two, often on a guided tour on their way somewhere, do the exact same things and leave without truly stopping to see all Bavaria has to offer, and sadly some locals do that too!
I would like this to change. I want this space to be a resource for all things Bavaria for those with a slow travel heart local and visitors alike. A place to encourage everyone to take their time to explore the Freistaat one day at a time, to more consciously and sustainably, to leave the car at home as much as possible.
And last but not least, a community all about exploring Bavaria and its amazing culture, history, landscape mainly by public transport. I hope this will become a place for inspiration and discovery, a place to share a different side to the southern German region.
In this space, you can expect to find all sorts of juicy insider slow travel info, the best itineraries and the most affordable yet sustainable options to enjoy the beauty of Bavaria in a conscious and friendly way.
