About Slow Travel Bavaria

Welcome to Slow Travel Bavaria, a little corner of the internet for all things, you guessed that right, Bavaria!

I’m Henar, the founder, writer, photographer, and everything in between here. Born in Spain, I started travelling pretty early in life. First with my family, and solo since the tender age of 15.

In 2009 I packed my bags and moved to Scotland and Denmark for a few years. Fast forward to 2019 when I landed in beautiful Munich, where I currently live and work as a content creator. During all my years on the road, I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of taking things as they come and to make more conscious decisions when I travel.

So, shortly after moving to Bavaria, I realised how many people come by just for a day or two (or to Oktoberfest), often on a guided tour on their way somewhere else. They usually do the same things and leave without truly stopping to see all Bavaria has to offer, and sadly some locals do that too! Perhaps they don’t know better? And that’s when Slow Travel Bavaria was born.

What is Slow Travel All About?

I would like this to change. I want this space to be a resource for all things Bavaria for those with a slow travel heart, local and visitors alike. A place to encourage everyone to take their time to explore the Freistaat one day at a time, more consciously and sustainably. And to leave the car at home as much as possible.

Last but not least, I would love this space to bring together a community all about exploring Bavaria and its amazing culture, history, and natural wonders. I hope this will become a place for inspiration and discovery, a place to share a different side to the southern German region.
